WHAT IS LASER THERAPY?
Laser therapy takes advantage of a medical phenomenon known as photobiomodulation. In short, this means that our therapy laser uses light to penetrate tissues without damaging them. This stimulates cell processes which ultimately improves tissue health.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF LASER THERAPY?
Laser therapy can relieve pain, decrease inflammation, improve mobility, and speed wound healing and/or surgical recovery. As a result, it can be used to treat a variety of conditions.

WHAT ANIMALS CAN THE LASER BE USED ON?
Dogs and cats benefit from laser therapy, as do almost all other species we treat, including small mammals and some birds!
IS IT SAFE?
Yes. Laser therapy is approved by the FDA. It has very few contraindications and we do not anticipate any negative effects.
WHAT DOES IT FEEL LIKE?
Laser treatment is generally a very enjoyable experience for your pet. The treatment is pain-free, totally non-invasive, and does not require sedation or medication of any kind. In fact, most pets experience deep relaxation because the benefits of pain relief can be immediate.
HOW LONG DOES A TREATMENT TAKE?
This depends upon individual characteristics of the patient, the complexity/severity of the condition being treated, and the site itself, as well as the number of sites being treated. Most sites require several minutes each. We generally schedule laser therapy as an outpatient procedure which is done while you wait.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL MY PET REQUIRE?
For some procedures, only one (e.g. for post-operative use after spay/neuter surgery), however most conditions benefit from a series of treatments administered two to three times weekly. The laser is also safe to use for long-term management of chronic conditions.
WHO PERFORMS THE LASER THERAPY?
Laser therapy is prescribed by our veterinarians and performed by our certified laser technicians. These professionals are highly capable individuals who are skilled at providing this service and do so with efficiency and compassion.
ARE THERE ANY RESTRICTIONS AFTER LASER THERAPY OR IS ANY SPECIAL HOME CARE ADVISED BECAUSE OF THE TREATMENT?
No. Special care is not required after laser therapy, but to optimize the health of your pet, please follow recommendations we've made that otherwise apply to his or her condition. Don't hesitate to ask if you have questions.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO SEE IMPROVEMENT?
This depends on the patient and condition being treated. Some benefits can be seen immediately, however several weeks or longer may be needed to see improvement in pets with severe or chronic conditions.
WHY SHOULD I CONSIDER LASER THERAPY FOR MY PET?
This is an amazing opportunity to stimulate your pet's body to improve itself! As a result, he or she can experience less pain, less inflammation, and faster healing. This may benefit hard-to-treat conditions or situations where medication side effects are undesirable.
